Committee Member Application

The Volunteer Committee has created a new process for recruiting and placing volunteers within Sea Ranch Association Committees.
Their goal has been to make the process more efficient and friendly to prospective volunteers.

The following article explains how interested volunteers may offer their services.

FORTHCOMING COMMITTEE VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

The Association plans to fill several committee vacancies in the new Board year beginning May 1, 2007.  Vacancies occur when a committee member has served for two consecutive three year terms.  In order to assist the Committee Chairs towards their recommendations for appointments, we ask that interested potential volunteers first contact the Community Manager to express their interest.  The Community Manager will then refer the volunteer to one or more of the Committee Chairs to pursue a possible appointment.  After review by the relevant committees, the volunteer may be invited to a committee meeting before the committee makes a choice and recommendation for appointment.  Appointments to Policy Committees are usually approved by the Board at its April Board Meeting.  Appointments to Operations Committees may be approved by the Community Manager at any time.  In the event that the volunteer is unsuccessful on the first try, his or her name will be kept on file for consideration in connection with future vacancies.

The following Policy Committees will have one or more vacancies in the new Board year:

Finance Committee (Chair, Charlie Shearer)

Planning Committee (Chair, Dibby Tyler)

The following Operations Committees have one or more vacancies which can be filled at any time:

Communication Committee (Chair, Nancy Carter)

Vision Interpretive Program Committee (Chair, Laurie Mueller)

Gardens Committee (Chair, David Osteraas)

This is not by any means a complete list of volunteer opportunities.  For example, the Trails Committee (Chair, Nancy Powers), the Commons Stewardship Group (Chair, Roz Bray), and the Security Patrols (operations contact Lin Plescia, Chair Paul Plakos) have continuing needs for new volunteers.

To learn more about the work of any Sea Ranch Committee, please feel free to contact a Committee Chair or one of the Volunteer Coordinators.  To initiate a request for consideration, please contact the Community Manager by telephone (785-2444) or e-mail (jfox@tsra.org) to begin the process.

We send a warm thank you to all current volunteers and appreciation to anyone who would like to be considered for future service.

Paddy Batchelder, Tarran McDaid, and Pat Owings, Volunteer Coordinators

Thank you,
John Fox,
Community Manager
