The Gualala River is a breeding ground for the threatened coho salmon and Steelhead trout as well as other local fish. The river has a good steelhead run and some Coho salmon. The coho enter the river with the first rains. Local fishing regulations vary year-by-year and need to be checked before fishing. Information from the California Department of Fish and Game on the local Salmon Fishery can be found here. Information on the current seasons for ocean fishing can be found here.
